as ténues polarizações do céu
perfeitos sinais de azul
prevenindo-me de sofrer

se hoje é dia e te escrevo
é porque o mar não me viu
deixou-me no triste enredo
e devagar ele partiu...

Entre nós não há palavras
só sórdidos tilintares
para tu te desleixares

Settembre

Montes unidos aos mares,
são candeias verdejantes
as aves surgem aos pares
os dias galopam em instantes.

Noite húmida e amena
que tarda mas não falha,
baila quente a água serena,
ausente da cidade que baralha.

A meta é longínqua
e enquanto a cidade dorme
procuro a voz faminta
de ti ouvir só o meu nome.

A vida vai correndo
o sol esconde-se e de novo vai nascendo.

About writing boring scientific papers...

Wishful Dissertation abstract

Entropy second principle of thermodynamics has many interpretations according to the context it is mentioned. One of its general consequences states that a living organism only reaches the true thermodynamic equilibrium when it faces death at the same time. Well, all of us agree that this is pretty unffair. Are we all in agreement if I say that human condition desires to live without the grose seeking of human blood in order to continuously survive. There is also a consensus when it is obvious that leastwise, the wonderful thought of not suffering from any attack of an unespected disease, crosses every human mind (?). Although, as many hard tasks, a dream should be accomplished by taking one step at a time. Antioxidants emerge on this context, not to (for now) violate second principle of thermodynamics, but hopefully to help retarding time unfortunate effects. In this work blablabla ....

Real Dissertation Abtract (real and boring...)

The oxygen paradox presents a duality for any aerobic living system, being the main cause of aging. Antioxidants are reductive compounds able to protect living structures from the oxidative damaging, thus preventing life-style related diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Hence a great interest has been devoted to the study this compounds in detail. A particular attention has been given to phenolic compounds (or polyphenols) as they are antioxidants naturally present in food and their family is vast, comprising over than 13 classes. Most experiments, however, have been devoted to the study of flavonoids since this is the class arguably reported as detaining the most nutritional relevance. Among flavonoids, chalcones were the subclass studied in this work because their antioxidant is still verifiable, and also they were found previously in this laboratory to be voltammetrically analyzed.
